Law A Level at St Laurence School

Course description

You will develop:
 an understanding of the main principles of English laws and their development
 knowledge and understanding of the structure, personnel and functions of the English legal
system and criminal law
 practical application of legal methods and reasoning
 the techniques of logical thinking and the skills necessary to analyse and solve problems by
applying legal rules
 a critical awareness of the changing nature of law in society
 the ability to communicate legal arguments and conclusions clearly and succinctly with
reference to appropriate legal authority

Entry requirements

Most importantly you need an interest in how laws are created and the running of the legal system. You should have an enquiring mind, enjoy thinking critically, and be able to learn and recall information. A good standard of English is beneficial as you will be expected to construct strong and detailed arguments in discussion and writing.
