A Level Economics at Wootton Upper School and Arts College
- Studying the major economic topics such as poverty, unemployment, inflation, wages, international trade, taxation, government spending and economic systems.
- Examining contemporary economic problems and assessing possible solutions.
- Developing and applying a range of skills to analyse current economic problems as they arise.
You do not need to have studied any Economics or Business before but you will need good grades in English and Maths (B grades preferred).
There are degrees in pure Economics or courses which combine Economics with other subjects such as Business, Management or Politics. Successful Economists need to be good all rounders and the A-level is widely respected as a good qualification for any degree which does not require specific subjects. Economics is useful for careers in business management, banking, finance, accountancy, journalism and for anybody who wishes to understand the society we live in and the world around us.
