PE A Level at Carr Hill High School and Sixth Form Centre

Course description

You will learn how exercise affects your body and how to train in order to improve your own performance.

You will learn how sports psychology can be used to enhance performance.
Students will also learn about sociological issues influencing modern sport and how sport is viewed in different cultures as well as assessing the development of 5 different sports through history to the present day.

Entry requirements

A very good understanding of the theory of P.E. is more important than an overall grade. This course is very demanding and your academic ability and not physical ability determine your overall grade. You must be interested in the history, the psychology and the anatomy of sport. You should also be competent in at least 2 physical activities and regularly competing in sport outside of school.

You should also be able to officiate, coach or lead a sporting activity.

5 GCSE’s grades at C or above. A grade ‘B’ minimum for G.C.S.E. Science.
