Course description

The Providing Electronic Security and Emergency Systems qualification is ideal for engineers and others working within the electronic security and emergency systems industry. This apprenticeship has been designed to meet the needs of engineers involved with security and emergency systems, installation, commissioning, maintenance, auditing, surveying and design. The Level 2 apprenticeship has been designed as the base qualification for engineers involved in the installation and maintenance of electronic security and emergency systems in any of the specialist areas stated above. The qualifications also provide for marketing and sales personnel who specialise in this industry. The content of the course covers the following areas - Level 2 Mandatory units: Reducing the risks to health and safety at work, Communicate effectively with others, Portray a positive personal image. Level 2 Mandatory Technical units: Make preparations and arrangements to install electronic security and emergency systems, Installing cabling for electronic security and emergency systems, Install electronic and emergency systems, Test and confirm functional operation of electronic security systems, Optional units available: Protecting from the risk of violence at work, Work effectively with other agencies, Promote a healthy and safe workplace, Assess and address risk to the environment, Use radio communications effectively, Maintain the performance of electronic security systems, Diagnose and rectify faults on electronic security systems, Test and confirm operation of electronic security and emergency systems, Commission and handover of systems to the client. This course will involve 20% of your time to be dedicated to off the job training.

Entry requirements

Initial assessment and diagnostic testing on maths and English will take place prior to commencement of apprenticeship.
