Travel Level 2 at Northampton College
This is a 1 year course where you will learn how to give advice to clients about a range of travel issues. You will be provided with a basic insight into the Travel and Tourism industry.The course covers a number of areas of travel expertise including:- Interpersonal Skills in the Work Place- UK as a Destination- Principles of Customer Service- An Introduction to the Cruise Industry- Worldwide Destinations- Tour Operations- Retail Travel- Visitor AttractionsThe method of learning is a mixture of both tutor led and practical sessions. Tutors expect full participation in learning activities.
This course is designed for people interested in this vocational area, who want to further their knowledge and who wish to progress to a Level 3 qualification or employment in a related area.
4 GCSEs at Grade D or above including English or a related Level 1 qualification.
You will be assessed by coursework assignments, role play and externally set examinations. The examinations for the Travel Destination unit are open book and you will be allowed to take an atlas and tourist attractions book into the examination with you.
After successful completion of this course you can progess to the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Travel and Tourism or seek employment as a Trainee Travel Agent.
Various day trips will be organised. The approximate cost will be £85. Books required:- World Travel Atlas - approximately £25- Tourist Attractions - approximately £15If you are aged 19 or over at the start of the course your Awarding Board fee will be approximately £120.All of the above costs are payable at enrolment and the exact amounts will be confirmed in your induction pack.Students are expected to behave, be punctual and dress appropriately at all times
