Film Studies at Cottingham High School

Course description

Film Studies is designed to deepen your understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of film. It is the major art form of the twentieth century, and provides new opportunities to develop modes of expression and exhibition. The course builds on the cineliteracy you have developed informally since childhood.

You study film from a variety of production contexts and experienced in a variety of viewing situations. You will also engage with a wide range of different kinds of films, developing skills and observation, critical analysis and personal reflection, as well as developing your creativity and practical skills, either in audio-visual or written form.

AS Level Units:

FM1: Exploring Film Form
FM2: British and American Film

A2 Level Units:

FM3: Film Research and Creative Projects
FM4: Varieties of Film Experience - Issues and Debates

Entry requirements

GCSE’s at grade A*-C are generally required.
