Nail Services Level 2 at Preston's College

Course description

If you to want specialise in one particular aspect of the beauty industry and develop specific skills in nail technology, then this course is ideal. You’ll cover all the basic knowledge around treating and enhancing nails. You be able to apply your skills within the commercial nail studio, providing all nail treatments and nail enhancements to clients. You can also learn how to design and create nail art on natural and artificial nails and have the opportunity to visit local trade shows to watch demonstrations and purchase all the latest designs for enhancing nails.

Course content

This qualification will provide you with the requisite knowledge, understanding and skills to work competently in the nail industry. Throughout this qualification you will ensure responsibility to reduce risks to health and safety, fulfil salon reception duties, develop and maintain your effectiveness at work, promote additional services and products to clients.

Units of study include:
– Provide manicure and pedicure services
– Carry out nail art services
– Apply and maintain nail enhancements to create a natural finish

Entry requirements

You need four GCSE’s at grade D or above including English and maths. You will also need good people, communication and dexterity skills as well as the desire to work with the general public in a professional manner.

Assessment

Each unit has a written paper or assignment requirement and a number of practical assessments. You will also build a portfolio.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this course can lead to further study on the Level 3 Nail Technology course or to employment or self-employment as a nail technician.
