Religious Studies (Ethics and Philosophy)
Religious Studies holds many advantages for students. Students who choose to further their studies at a higher level will find that this subject develops unique skills and creates for Ethics and philosophy is an integral part of the Religious Studies course. Religious Studies equips students with the skills and ability to study, discuss and evaluate modern ethical issues. This is an important skill in many them a solid foundation to study any degree in humanities or social sciences. careers where effective and empathetic communication with the public is needed. The course aims to raise students awareness of ethical issues that are now evident in our modern world. The study of famous philosophers and ideologies and how we make the right or wrong decision based upon a theory or situation. Further study of philosophical ideas that attempt to answer the deeper and more ambiguous questions of life. The study of religion and the ideology of how to live correctly. The course is divided into three specific areas of study: Ethics, Philosophy, Religious experience. A variety of teaching methods are used within the classroom including discussion, lectures in Trinity College Carmarthen, group work, independent study and educational trips locally and abroad.
A –C grade or higher at GCSE level Religious Education (Full or Short Course) is an advantage, however students need not have studied the subject at GCSE level in order to undertake the Advanced Level course.
