History AS/A2 at Honiton Community College
You will be studying aspects of British and American History, and investigating the relationship between 'government' and 'people'. How did Britain become a world power? How have governments responded to popular demands for democracy? Has violent or peacful protest been more effective, and were wars apparently fought for freedom and emancipation, really concerned with the expansion of state power and control?
5 GCSE passes (grade C, or above) It is not necessary to have studied History GCSE. It is more important that you have an enquiring mind, an interest in the past and its relevance to current affairs, and an ability to communicate your ideas effectively. However you will need a GCSE English at grade C or above to benefit fully from the course.
