Travel and Tourism at The Bramcote College

Course description

The BTEC Nationals are designed as specialist qualifications for students who have a clear view of their future career or are seeking progression to higher education. They are equivalent to A-Levels and are recognised by universities, further education colleges and employers alike and are recommended for those who have achieved at least four A*- C grade GCSE’s and have a clear view of where they want to be.

The qualification will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to embark upon a successful career in the tourism industry, or progress to a more responsible job if you are already in employment. The course is designed to be adaptable to your needs, interests and career aspirations and consists of six compulsory units.

The course allows you to focus on what interests you within the industry, for example: the European market and long-haul travel destinations or retail and business operations. In the Core Units, students will study units which closely reflect the Level 2 BTEC First Certificate in Travel & Tourism. Investigating Travel and Tourism, The Business of Travel and Tourism, The UK as a Destination & Customer Service in Travel and Tourism.

Some of the optional units studied will be Roles and Responsibilities of Holiday Representatives, Long-haul Travel Destinations, Marketing Travel and Tourism Products and Services and Investigating the Cruise Sector. The focus of this course will be on making the learning vocational and relevant to the working environment and the skills required for it.

5 x A*- C grades at GCSE.
