A level Geography explores the concepts and processes that explain geographical phenomena and landscapes. It maintains the balance between physical and human Geography whilst ensuring relevance to the modern world and young people’s lives

Course content

THE AS COURSE The AS course comprises two units:
UNIT 1: Physical and Human Geography
- Rivers, floods and management
- Cold environments
- Population change
- Health issues

UNIT 2: Geographical Skills


The A2 course comprises two units.

UNIT 3: Contemporary Geographical
- Plate Tectonics and associated hazards
- Challenges facing ecosystems
- World Cities
- Development and globalisation

UNIT 4: Geographical issues and skills

Future opportunities

Students who have studied A level Geography have gone on to university to study Town and Country planning, Geology, Management, Accountancy, Veterinary Science and Medicine. However a qualification in Geography provides a well skilled background for any career.
