Course description

The A2 course in Business Studies & Economics consists of three units taught in one year in addition to three AS units taught in the previous year. A2 Units Unit 4 - Human Resources Unit 5 - Business Finance Unit 6 - Business Planning Assessment Unit 4 - Written paper with a portfolio style question based on pre issued evidence on Module 4 with some additional evidence in the examination room. 1h 45min - 15% of total A2 Unit 5 - Synoptic written paper based on the two chosen options 2hours 20% of total A2 Unit 6 - Two Portfolio pieces - one on each of the chosen options 1,500 words per piece 15%

Future opportunities

The study of economics is characterised by its ability to 'practise skills, qualities and attitudes which will equip them for the challenges, opportunities and responsibilities of adult and working life. Many students develop a passion for economics at this level and will take the subject further at degree level. From here there are a range of opportunities in the field of Business including banking, insurance and finance. In most cases this will be in the form of working for a high street name. Some students will wish to take their interest further in the form of a Master Degree in Economics. Working as an Economist for a large multinational company is the most likely career route where everyday tasks would involve collecting, analysing and reporting on economic trends and statistics.
