Government & Politics A Level at Strode's College

Course description

This course is living proof that Politics can be fun while challenging! Our aim is for students to recognise that Politics is not just about the main political parties. Indeed, it involves all of us as we live in the community. In the first year you study UK Politics, while in the second year you study the Politics of the USA.

Course content

This is an ideal course to learn about democracy, elections, political parties and the role of pressure groups. You will participate in class presentations, mock cabinet meetings and debates and enjoy listening to political speakers on a variety of subjects.


Entry requirements

General entry requirements for a Level 3 Pathway. Plus grade C in English Language GCSE or equivalent.


Two written examinations per year.

Financial information

Visit the Houses of Parliament and the Supreme Court. Meet our local MP. Participate in the College Mock Elections.

Future opportunities

Many students who study Politics at A Level go on to university to read for a degree in Politics. Students often go on to work in The Civil Service or in Teaching. Some even go on to become Councillors and MPs.
