Vehicle Body and Paint Maintenance Entry Level at Sandwell College

Course description

This is a one year course for inexperienced learners who wish to study and gain practical experience in a wide range of automotive repair trades. The course is ideal for those learners who like to work with their hands and want to see an end product.

Course content

This is a full-time course of about 16 hours attendance per week. We aim to give learners the best opportunity to experience a wide range of skills associated with the vehicle repair industry, including Body Repair, Vehicle Welding, Customising, Paint Refinishing, Body Fabrication and Vehicle Valeting.

Entry requirements

Candidates attend a formal interview, followed by an assessment designed to make sure that this course is the right one for you. Keenness and enthusiasm for the automotive industry are essential.

Assessment

There is a range of assessment, with the emphasis on practical observations carried out within our well-equipped workshop. Other assessment will be in the form of oral questioning and written answer.

Future opportunities

Successful completion of this course will give automatic entry on to our Body Repair
Level 2 or Paint Refinishing Level 2 full-time programmes. An alternative to full time is an Apprentice programme in Paint, Body or MET (subject to suitable placement being available).
