Physical Education at The Chase School

Course description

* Physical Education is a diverse subject looking at the art and science of movement from a practical and theoretical perspective. Physical activity is an essential and integral component of a balanced, active and healthy lifestyle.

* Those who follow the course will increase their knowledge and awareness of the opportunities for participation and progression in physical activities and will enable candidates to become informed and discerning decision makers in respect of their participation and performance in sport.

* Students will develop an understanding and appreciation of factors which allow them to be physically active, these include physiological, psychological and socio-cultural aspects and how they affect human performance and behaviour.

Entry requirements

Students who cope well with 4 AS levels in the Lower Sixth and then 3 or 4 A levels in the Upper Sixth will usually have gained at least 4 Bs and probably 2 As at GCSE level.

If you hope to study 3 AS levels and carry these through to completion as A-level, we will expect at least 4 Bs at GCSE level.

Most departments advise that Bs are necessary for entry to an AS course but individual circumstances are always considered, as appropriate, when GCSE results are published in the summer.
