Light Vehicle Maintenance Level 2 at The Maltings College

Course description

This is a practical, hands on course with some elements of knowledge, taught within our fully equipped working garage. Our facilities are backed up with the world renowned brand Snap-On tools under their Excellence in Education Program, offering you access to the latest cutting edge technology. Our links with Snap-On, combined with the prestigious qualification, means you will be recognised by employers as having the skills to succeed.

You will be awarded a very detailed e-portfolio, structured to suit your own individual needs.

Our tutors are highly advanced motor vehicle engineers from a range of industry backgrounds including vehicle service technicians, advanced diagnosis specialists , auto electricians, RAC patrols and Ferrari engineers. All actively maintain their own skills working with high profile companies. This means that they can advise, train and support your pathway into employment within the motor industry.

Course content

You will be learn about:

  • health and safety
  • job roles and materials
  • fabrication, tools and measuring devices
  • routine light vehicle maintenance
  • removal and replacement of light vehicle engine systems and components
  • light vehicle transmission systems and components

Entry requirements

 

To apply for a Level 2 course you need to be either: 

Progressing from completion of a Level 1 course and/or;  

Hold three or more GCSEs at grade D or above

Assessment

Multiple choice examination.

Practical demonstration / assignment.

Financial information

Financial assistance for meals, transport, course uniform and equipment is available for students who meet the criteria set out by the DFE.
