Course description

Government & Politics is popular will people who enjoy current affairs, debates and discussions, and who wish to study a subject that is vibrant and exciting.  School regularly hosts visits from MPs and councillors, and students have the opportunity to experience a field visit to Parliament.

You will develop leadership, evaluation skills and debating skills.

Government and Politics in the USA

  • Constitution
  • Congress, Presidency and the Supreme Court
  • Pressure Groups

Entry requirements

5 GCSE's at Grade 4 or above.  (English at 5).


There will be three examinations at the end of Year 13 based on the taught content.  There is no coursework.

Seen as a useful qualification in most, if not all professions - especially Law, Media, Banking, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising, Public Sector Administration, Teaching and many more.
