Childcare and Education CACHE Level 3 Diploma at Mid Cheshire College

Course description

This Programme enables learners with a keen interest in children’s care, learning and development to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators or to access Higher Education.

Course content

Students will study a range of units including:

• Child Development
• Providing Safe environments
• Child Health
• Play and Learning
• Observation
• Assessment and Planning
• A professional practice portfolio
• Supporting Literacy
• Understanding children’s additional needs

In addition to academic study all learners must complete a minimum of 750 hours work experience in appropriate childcare settings.

The CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator)is equivalent to 3 A levels/360 UCAS points

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade A* - C or BTEC Extended Diploma or appropriate NVQ/VRQ/VTVT Level 2 or another relevant Level 2 or intermediate qualification.

A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required.

Assessment

A combination of internally assessed work and some externally assessed tasks.

Future opportunities

Upon achievement of the Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education it is intended that learners will be able to access higher education or enter the workforce as Early Years Educators. Practitioner in day nurseries, practitioner in nursery schools, and practitioner in reception classes in primary schools, pre-school worker, nanny, and home based childcare or teaching assistant
