Music Practitioners (Rock School) Level 3 Btec Subsidiary Diploma at The Sixth Form at Cornwallis Academy

Course description

The Rock School course is designed for students who wish to develop skills in music performance and learn about the music industry. 

 

Successful completion of this course will allow you to continue your music studies at university and will help open doors to exciting work experience placements. 

 

Many of our students have secured exciting opportunities at recording studios inclding BBC Radio 1. 

 

One of our former students has even gone on to release his own original material on iTunes whilst studying at university. 

Course content

The following units are externally assessed:

* Planning for a career in music

*Rehearsal skills and live music performance

The following units are internally assessed: 

*Auditioning for music 

* Music dissertation

*Session musician

 

PLUS 1 optional unit from the following: 

* Music promotion

*Solo performance

*Music ensembles

*Music software skills

*Development of music technology recording

Entry requirements

Merit at Level 2 First Award in Music

or Grade  5 at GCSE Music

If pupil does not have any of the above, entry onto the course will be through audition and interview with Mrs. Watts

It is essential that the pupil can play a musical instrument
