Academy - Derbyshire County Cricket at Derby College
Cricket Derbyshire and Derby College have worked in partnership to create the Cricket Derbyshire Training Academy which offers training and qualifications for young people from the age of 16.
This is a fantastic offer for people across the region who are interested in sport, cricket events, competency and coaching. Young people taking part will have the best of both worlds: training in Derbyshire County Cricket Club's facilities and taking practical lessons with professional qualified ECB coaches and players at the County Ground.
Derby College’s involvement with Cricket Derbyshire Training Academy enables high quality sports courses with a cricket focus to be delivered to learners. Highly qualified and respected cricket coaches will develop learners' cricketing skills and will provide:
- Technical and tactical coaching
- Use of Derbyshire County Cricket Club elite training facilities
- Psychological, physiological and lifestyle management
- Additional cricket-related coaching or officiating qualifications
- Health and fitness programmes
- Coaching education programmes
Applications are welcomed from individuals who participate in cricket at club level and from those who may have already had trials at a higher level but were unsuccessful. Candidates must show a desire and willingness to develop their sporting performance.
Entry to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport will require candidates to have a minimum of five GCSEs graded A*-C (this must include English and Maths).
Assessment on the study programme will be continuous over the year. Assessment methods will vary depending on the subjects delivered. See the Sports Coaching and Development pages for further details.
On successful completion of the course, learners may wish to progress to the Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching at Derby College or to seek employment within the sport and leisure sector.
