Performing Arts BTEC Diploma at Dixons City Academy

Course description

The focus of the course is on performance and rehearsal techniques, and also on processes required to support the development of skills needed for the world of work within a performance arts context.

Course content

Areas of study may include such genres as Contemporary Theatre Performance, Applying Acting Skills, Developing Voice for the Actor, and Developing and Applying Contemporary Dance technique, amongst others. You will also be required to perform in various productions throughout the duration of the course. The course will be delivered through a series of practical workshops and rehearsals, supported by a study of plays, practitioners, styles and contexts.

Entry requirements

Students will usually require 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above. A GCSE or equivalent in at least one Performing Arts subject (Music, Dance, Drama) is preferable but not essential.
