Bricklaying Diploma Level 2 at Lancaster and Morecambe College

Course description

This course is for students who wish to work in the construction industry and progress onto level 3 or an apprenticeship. 

Course content

You will study the following: • Carry Out Safe Working Practices • Information, Quantities and Communication • Building Methods and Construction Technology • Interpret Drawings and Setting Out • Thin Joint Masonry Systems • Solid Walling and Isolated Piers • Cavity Walling All LMC students will receive tutorial support and take a programme of Functional Skills including maths and English.

All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and Maths qualifications or GCSE mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade A*-C in these subjects. If you have a grade D at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D will work towards GCSE through the study of Maths & English Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment. 

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade A*-D including English or maths OR a Level 1 related qualification. Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.

Assessment

This course is continuously assessed using a range of methods including assignments, practical performance, examination, portfolio presentation and course work.

Financial information

Students will be expected to pay £50.00 prior to the start of the course. This includes personal protective equipment and stationery which will be required for the course. 

Future opportunities

The course can lead on to Diploma Level 3 Bricklaying or Bricklaying Apprenticeship.

 

Further information

You will be expected to undertake occasional home study on this course. 

On completion of this course you will receive CSkills Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying.
