Beauty Therapy Level 2 at Wiltshire College

Course description

In this course you will learn about the theory of beauty, anatomy and physiology. You will also have ‘hands on’ practical experience in manicure, pedicure, eyelash and eyebrow treatments, make-up, facials and waxing.
You will work in reception and learn how to maintain confidential client records, stock control, handling money, booking appointments and answering the phone.
You may have the opportunity to participate in a work placement or you may secure part-time employment at a salon.

Course content

The course consists of 10 units:
  • Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce health & safety.
  • Promote additional services or products to clients
  • Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
  • Fulfil salon reception duties
  • Provide facial skin care treatment
  • Enhance the apperance of eyebrows and lashes
  • Carry out waxing services
  • Provide manicure services
  • Provide pedicure services
  • Provide make-up treatment


Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade D or above, including English and maths (or equivalent) OR Beauty Therapy VRQ Level 1 including Functional Skills in English and Maths.

And a satisfactory reference and interview. Successful completion of a trade activity to include a practical and written task. 


You will be assessed in two ways in each unit. You will have to demonstrate that you have mastered the practical skills required for the unit by working on clients in the Aspire College Beauty salons. You will also have to demonstrate you have acquired the knowledge and understanding for the unit by passing your online exam. 
A minimum of 3-hours a week home study is required. Most weeks you will have to sit an online exam. You will need to revise for these exams as the pass mark is 70%.
The final qualification is an NVQ level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy.

Upon successful completion of this course you could progress onto the Level 3 Beauty Therapy course.
