Food & Beverage Service NVQ Level 2 Diploma at Harlow College
This is a practical programme which helps you to develop your knowledge and skills for various styles of food service, including plate, silver service and buffet. In addition you will learn other workplace essentials like hygiene, health & safety, teamwork and customer care.
You will study a wide variety of subjects relating to health & safety, food hygiene and teamwork.You will also experience preparing and clearing areas for table service, serving food at the table, silver service, serving alcoholic and soft drinks, preparing and serving wines, preparing and serving dispensed and instant hot drinks. The course also incorporates the Level 2 Award in Food Safety.
You will complete a total of 37 credits – 15 which are mandatory and a minimum of 22 optional credits. These include a wide variety of subjects relating to Health and Safety, Food Hygiene and Teamwork. Examples of optional units include preparing and clearing areas for table service, serving food at the table, silver service, serving alcoholic and soft drinks, preparing and serving wines, preparing and serving dispensed and instant hot drinks.
These need to be included as part of your qualification and all units chosen will be based upon your career requirements together with the knowledge and skills you already have in place.
This programme also incorporates the Award in Level 2 Food Safety.
All students will complete Functional Skills in English and Maths.
NVQ 1 in Hospitality, Diploma in Introduction to the Hospitality Industry. 2 GCSE at grade D and 2 GCSEs at grade E.
Observation, assessment, short answer tests and portfolio building.

NVQ Level 3 Hospitality Supervision. Employment as waiting staff in hotels, restaurant or industrial catering establishments.
