Psychology AS Level at Monkseaton High School

Course description

In year 12 students will study three compulsory topics including Social Influence, Memory and Attachment. This includes factors influencing obedience and conformity, nature and structure of memory as well as memory in everyday life, plus the relationship between caregiver-infant bond and the importance of this bond to development.

Students will also explore some core themes in Psychology here including Approaches in Psychology, Psychopathology and Research Methods. This will include biopsychology and will require students to think independently and apply their skills.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE grades A*-C / 9-5, including English and Mathematics.

Assessment

Two papers at the end of year 12 will make up an independent AS qualification. Both are 90 minutes.
