Painting and Decorating Level 1 Diploma at Highbury College

Course description

This programme is ideal for students who wish to pursue a career in Painting and Decorating and are currently not working in the industry.

Course content

The programme includes research into various aspects of the painting and decorating industry, building studies and health and safety.

Also covered will be painting with various paint types, hanging wall and ceiling papers, preparation work and finishes, decorative effects and textured coatings.

Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSE grades A*-E including maths and English. You will also need to pass the aptitude test. Students are required to wear white bib and brace overalls, with a white round neck t-shirt and safety boots for all workshop sessions.

Assessment

In order to pass the Diploma a high level of attendance is required as well passing all practical elements and the exams after each module have been completed.

Future opportunities

The Level 1 Diploma will be achieved on successful completion as well as Health and Safety units and First Aid units.
