Uniformed Public Services BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Bath College

Course description

This course will develop your leadership and team-building skills and provide an excellent foundation for a career in the public services. With this programme, you will improve your personal fitness, self-confidence and self-reliance. This course will also help you to apply a range of practical skills and develop your knowledge and understanding of the uniformed services, e.g. Police, Fire, Ambulance, and Armed Forces.

Course content

There are 18 units covered by this programme including:

  • Physical preparation and fitness
  • Team development and team leadership
  • Citizenship and the public services
  • Land-based skills
  • Understanding discipline
  • Crime and its effects
  • Outdoor expeditions (including expeditions in wild country)

Entry requirements

Five full GCSEs at grade C or above including English language and preferably maths; or a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Public Services at merit level; or equivalent qualifications.


There will be practical and written assignments.

Future opportunities

This course is equivalent to three A-levels; you will be able to access undergraduate courses at university.You can progress to employment in the uniformed services industry e.g. Police, Armed Services, Fire/Ambulance Service, Customs & Excise, etc.
