Course description

YEAR 1

UNIT 1: MARKETING & PEOPLE

In Unit 1 you will learn about dynamic markets, social media and online retailing, innovation and entrepreneurship.

UNIT 2: MANAGING BUSINESS ACTIVITIES

Unit 2 introduces you to business finance, the impact of economic uncertainty on businesses and the competitive environment.

 

YEAR 2

UNIT 3: BUSINESS DECISIONS & STRATEGIES

In Unit 3 you will move from functions to strategy, exploring business decision-making, small business survival, managing change and scenario planning.

UNIT 4: GLOBAL BUSINESS

Unit 4 explores global business, investigating overseas markets, cultural and social differences and the impact of multinationals.

Entry requirements

In addition to our Programme Entry Requirements, applicants must also meet specific Course Entry Requirements:

Grade C in English Language and Grade B in Maths OR Grade B in English Language and Grade C in Maths.

Assessment

Year 1: 2 internal exams covering content Unit 1 & 2

Year 2: 3 external exams covering content from Unit 1 – 4

Future opportunities

Business Studies A level is a useful introduction to the world of business for students planning to enter professions such as banking, accountancy, management services and human resources management.

It is equally beneficial for those progressing to higher education in other fields.
