Chemistry A Level at Holgate Academy

Course description

Chemistry is ideally suited for students who have a passion and interest in Science, and particularly those who would like to know how and why materials and chemicals behave in the way they do. 

Course content

The course consists of topics including; Elements of life, Developing fuels, Elements from the sea, The ozone story, What’s in a medicine?, The chemical industry, Polymers and life, Oceans, Developing metals and Colour by design.

Entry requirements

They will have ideally studied both core and additional sciences at GCSE, or separate GCSE Chemistry.  A pass at A*-C in GCSE Maths is also expected.

Future opportunities

Chemistry is a subject that provides a sound basis for a huge range of future careers including: Medicine, Forensics, Dentistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, Metallurgy, Biomedical Science , Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Biochemical Science , Research & Development Industry and Marine Biology.
