Course description

The level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing is based on the National Occupational Standards for Hairdressing. It is a job ready qualification which requires learners to demonstrate in the workplace the skills and knowledge required in the hairdressing industry. This qualification attests to a high level of occupational competence and the job readiness of the learner. Level 2 covers the essential skills required by a hairdresser. A broader range of units at level 3 reflects the roles of senior salon staff. Units range from shampooing, conditioning and drying hair, to facilitating learning through demonstration and instruction. Progression The level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing is suitable for people who have taken a related level 3 or level 2 qualification, and/or have been working in the industry and are looking to accredit their skills and knowledge. The qualification provides progression opportunities for those with intentions of progressing into management or onto a higher level qualification Apprenticeship Framework There are a number of elements to each Apprenticeship and this is called the framework. Each Apprenticeship framework has three main strands: ? Competence based element ? Knowledge element ? Skills element The three strands are sometimes accompanied by additional qualifications to give the most relevant skills and knowledge required for the job.
