Mathematics AS/A Level at Sheldon School
C1, C2, C3 and C4 are Pure Maths modules. They look at mathematical techniques which can be used in Applied Maths to solve problems. There is a lot of algebra, graphs, sequences and introducing and developing diff erentiation and integration. There will be plenty of trigonometry.
S1 is a stati sti cs course looking at probability, normal distributi on and correlation.
M1 is a mechanics course looking at velocity and acceleration, Newton’s Laws of Moti on and the idea of moments.
Students will normally be expected to have achieved an A grade at GCSE Mathematics. Students with B grades will be considered on an individual basis.
There are six modules each examined by a 1 1/2 hour paper.
AS level Examinations for C1, C2 and S1
A2 level Examinations for C3, C4 and M1
