Spanish A Level at Saint Benedict, A Catholic Voluntary Academy
Advanced Level Spanish aims to provide students with a thorough knowledge of the language and to develop, in particular, the skill of speaking with a high degree of fluency. Our students always enjoy the rapid progress that they make throughout the A Level course.
The course will include elements of the following:
Reading, listening to and analysing texts
History, Society and Culture of the Spanish-speaking world
The A2 course provides students with the opportunity to study aspects of the cinema, literature and history of the Spanish-speaking world. For example, current students are carrying out detailed study of Perú and a Spanish film.
In Year 12 and Year 13 our students will have the benefit of 1 hour per week with a native speaker with the aim of developing confidence and creativity with the spoken language. All students are strongly encouraged to listen to Spanish radio and read Spanish newspapers, magazines and websites on a regular basis.
All Level 3 students must have 5 separate GCSE passes (A*-C), including English Language and Maths.
