Sociology A-Level at President Kennedy School
Sociology aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop an awareness of the society in which they live and to study, at an academic level, a range of global issues, such as, marriage, educational achievement, patterns of crime and individual’s beliefs. Distillation of knowledge and understanding skills are demonstrated through group discussions and written communication tasks.
Teaching and learning comprises of four units, as follows:
Paper 1 - Education with Methods in Context
Paper 2 – Families and Households with Research Methods
Paper 3 – Beliefs in Society
Paper 4 – Crime & Deviance with Theory and Methods
Standard minimum Level 3 entry requirement including at least a Grade B in Sociology or English at GCSE
Internal Half termly and trial examinations
External Summer examinations
Criminology, Health Professions, Journalism, Law, Police Service, Prison Service, Probation, Social Work, Teaching.
