Business A Level at Cramlington Learning Village

Course description

Fancy yourself at the head of a successful business? Got some great ideas for new products or services? Or maybe you want to work for a large company by working in marketing or management? The Business Studies A Level course gives you an incredibly powerful start to launch you on to becoming a business person. All the key topics of starting and running a business are covered. Small businesses offering individual service or setting up your own business are also covered in the course. Whether you’re selling homemade cakes or starting your own e-company, you still need to know about business; how to get your products to market, how to price them, how to promote them. In the full A Level you will look at how large companies make decisions and evaluate those strategic decisions. Every level and scale of business is covered in A Level Business at Cramlington Learning Village.

Course content

AS - Two exams each worth 50% of the AS. These will focus on managing and leading a business and how businesses make decisions to improve their performance.

A2 - Three exams worth equal value. These exams will look at similar issues to the AS as well as how companies analyse and evaluate their strategy and select a new strategy to move forward.

Entry requirements

5 A* - C GCSEs across a range of subjects. It is essential to have a C in English to study this course. It is not necessary to have studied Business at GCSE.

Assessment

This course is assessed 100% through exams. At AS Business 1 and Business 2 in the summer of year 12. At A2 Business 1 2 and 3 in the summer of year 13. The exams will have a variety of multiple choice, case study response and extended essay questions.
