English Language (A2 Level) at Abbot Beyne High School - a Specialist Visual Arts College

Course description

A2 Unit 3 30% of A Level Exam 2 hour 30 minutes taken in January. Students will study child language acquisition and language change. They will be presented with a choice of 2 questions for each section and must answer 1 from each topic sharing knowledge of AS terms and new A2 terminology. Unit 4 20% of A Level Coursework internally marked. 80 marks. Students will decide upon an area of language that they find interesting. They will set a question associated with their area of intent. They will collect quantitative and qualitative data and come to a discovery about their chosen topic of investigation. Additionally they will be required to provide a media text which informs a non-specialist audience about the topic of their investigation.

Five GCSEs grade A-C.

Future opportunities

You could take this course with other advanced level courses or equivalent to prepare for higher education in English Language or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to English Language such as a Teacher, Journalist, or Editor. The course will also help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking.
