Performance Studies at Denefield School

Course description

  • The language of Performing Arts Community Performance module - devise and perform a piece that includes all three arts (Dance, Drama, Music) and complete a piece of written coursework (2,000 words)
  • Performance contexts (2 hour written paper) Students study choreographer Lloyd Newson and his fast paced dynamic company ‘DV8’, and playwright John Godber’s witty and physical portrayal of modern life. They are then expected to answer exams questions on each practitioner.
  • Year 13
  • Performance contexts (two, 2½ hour written papers) Students study nine different performance extracts (three from dance, three from drama and three from music) on post-modern approaches to the Performing Arts since 1960 and answer one exam question.
  • Performance project
  • Entry requirements

    To study the full range of AS Level subjects you will need to have achieved an average of 46 points from your GCSE qualifications (mostly B grades +) and, a minimum of B grades in science and/or mathematics should you be applying to study these subjects.
