Course description

The career opportunities for sport and exercise science students have increased in recent years, and that rise looks set to continue.
Spectators of the Olympic and Paralympic Games will have seen the role of sport and exercise science in the development and success of the athletes. Experts in psychology, physiology and biomechanics have helped professional sportsmen and women improve their everyday training and their ability to compete at the highest level.
When things go wrong, when an athlete is injured, the sport and exercise science professional can help. Our new sports science labs ensure our students learn using the latest equipment, with many of our graduates going on to careers in injury rehabilitation and physiotherapy.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs grade C or above to include English and Mathematics. BTEC Level 3 90 credit Introductory Qualification, NVQ Level 2 or VRQ Level 2.

Financial information

No cost for 16-19 year olds.

Future opportunities

Completion of this course will grant entry into employment, degree courses at Higher Education establishments. UCAS points will ultimately decide what courses are open to the progressing learner.

      By Road: 
      The Middleton Campus is two miles from junction 20 on the M62. Take the A627(M) towards Oldham and leave at first junction and follow signs to Middleton.
      By Rail: 
      The Castleton rail station is 2 miles from the Middleton campus, and takes around ten minutes to reach by bus.
      By Bus: 
      The No. 17 bus service runs frequent between Rochdale and Manchester approximately every ten minutes and stops at the entrance to the Middleton Campus.
