IT Users BTEC Level 1 Diploma at Oaklands College

Course description

This level 1 course is designed to enhance learner's work and life skills in a range of vocational contexts.

Course content

This course has been developed to give learners the opportunity to engage in activities which are relevant to their ambitions regarding Information Technology and will provide opportunities to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in their working and academic life.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry qualifications are 3 E grades at GCSE, including Maths and English. References for good conduct, attendance, and submission of work to deadlines are requested to ensure that learners are offered the best programme for their needs.

You should have completed a general education up to the age of 16. You should have a keen interest in information technology and a career goal to work in the IT or related industry or progress on to a Level 2 course.


Assessment is through a combination of internally assessed and externally verified coursework. There are no exams. You must pass all the units to achieve the qualifications; your overall grade will be determined by the average of all units studied.

Financial information

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

Future opportunities

If successful, you can progress onto further study at Level 2 and if successful then onto higher levels.

Further information

Functional Skills: Integrated into your programme you will be able to work towards the ASDAN Employability Award at Entry 3 or Level 1 and a functional skill in either English, Mathematics or Information Technology.
