Textiles A Level at Hessle High School and Sixth Form College

Course description

This course encourages you to develop a broad view of design and technology and to develop your capacity to design and make textile products. The following units are studied:

  • Technical Principals
  • Design and Making Principals
  • Design and Make Project

If you have a creative flair and are interested in fashion or interior design, this course could be for you!

Entry requirements

A minimum of five GCSEs at a Pass Grade are required.
Some courses have specific subject grade requirements for entry. For more details, please contact staff at your place of study.

Assessment

50% Coursework and 50% Exam

Future opportunities

Textiles could take you into a number of exciting career paths. Becoming a textile designer is a natural outcome, but there are other job prospects like working as an interior designer or in fashion merchandising and buying. The advertising and marketing profession always need creative people too, as does the manufacturing industry. On completion of this course, many students continue with their studies at university before embarking on their career later.
