The course for you if ...
You are a people person and have a passion for beauty therapy and hairdressing.
You will work towards an exciting career in Beauty Therapy or Hairdressing by learning the latest techniques and technology in professional salon environments.
You will also gain an excellent grounding in a variety of Beauty Therapy and Hairdressing techniques such as skincare and nail art, shampooing, assisting with colouring, salon duties and general health and safety.
As well as learning theory, you will perfect and practice your new skills in our on-campus training salons working alongside hair experts in a professional and practical environment.
A range of GCSEs at Grade D-F; or at least a pass at BTEC Entry or Certificate; or Level 1 equivalent. You will need to attend an interview with a course tutor and get a satisfactory reference from a previous course, school or employer. Students are required
to purchase a salon uniform and kit for all Hairdressing or Beauty
Therapy courses (approx. cost of kit and uniform = £72 (based on 13-14 costs). Financial support may be available to help with the cost of course-specific equipment, ask the Gateway team for more details.
Assessment is based on practical competency, graded assessments and external online tests.
Possible progression onto Level 2 Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy or Nail Services courses. Careers include: Receptionist, Assistant Beauty Therapist, Junior Hairdresser and Colour Technician.
