Sport & Exercise Sciences Level 3 90-Credit Diploma at Chichester College

Course description

The course aims to provide studies in sport that are directly related to the changing needs of employers in the Sport and Sport Science industries. As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you will develop the skills you need to start or progress in a career in a sport related area.

Course content

Can you run 100m in 9.52secs? Have you ever wondered how Mo Farah's body has adapted to allow him to run long distances? Units such as Physiology of Fitness, Fitness Testing, Fitness Training and Sport Psychology will allow you to find the answers. Ever wondered how David Beckham scores 'those' free kicks? The study of Biomechanics will assist you! There are 9 units that are focused on the study of sport as a science. If you are aged 16-18 you will follow a study programme consisting of your main qualification, English and maths, enterprise and enrichment. 

Are you a practically based person? This course will provide you the opportunity to learn in a variety of methods. How about studying your topics in a lab with relevant equipment? Do you enjoy fitness and training? Are you capable of independent research? 

Entry requirements

A BTEC Level 2 Diploma in a related subject with at least a Merit. At least 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C to include English Language and Mathematics and a grade C or above in Science.


This course is all coursework based. This does not mean life on a computer. How about improving your presentation skills, artistic flair and practical demonstration. A choice of methods that cater for your strengths

Future opportunities

Have you ever wanted to work with athletes? This qualification will allow you to work in a range of roles including a Biomechanist, Sports Therapist, Sport Scientist or a Sport Psychologist

Further information

This course involves aspects of physical activity so having a drive and an interest for sport and exercise is a must. Physical fitness would also assist you in achieving well on this course
