Business BTEC Level 3 Certificate/Extended Certificate at Exeter College

Course description

A practical, work-related course. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. It is equivalent to one AS Level (Certificate) or one A level (Subsidiary Diploma). They provide a grounding in business education and firm basis for further study or progression into management.

Course content

For the Certificate:
The course is made up of three units:
• The Business Environment
• Business Resources
• Introduction to Marketing

On completion of the certificate, you may in the second year progress to the:

Extended Certificate:
Complete another 3 units:
• Business communication
• Business accounts
• Working in teams

The course is made up of three units:

Entry requirements

You will need at least five GCSEs at Grade C or above (with English Language and Maths at Grade C or above). Internal applicants will also need a reference from your former tutor.

Assessment

The units are internally assessed by coursework and checked by Edexcel. 

Future opportunities

When combined with other Level 3 courses, students may choose to progress on to the HNC/HND Business at Exeter College.  Previous students have also gone on to study International Business at the University of Manchester and Event Management at Thames Valley University as well as other degrees. BTEC Level 3 courses are valued by employers and can lead to career opportunities in business specialism such as finance, human resources, management or marketing.  Learners may also progress with employment to professional qualifications such the Certificate in Management and Leadership Studies.
