GCSE French/ Spanish - Grade B; GCSE English Language – Grade C

To continue to A Level – Grade D at AS French/ Spanish

Assessment

At AS Level:

Oral exam: 12–14 minutes 30% of AS

 Listening Reading Writing exam (including translation into English): 1 hour 45 minutes

40% of AS

Written exam (including translation into Foreign Language): 1 hour 15 minutes

30% of AS

At A Level:

Oral exam: 21–23 minutes (including 5 minutes preparation time) 30% of A Level

Listening Reading Writing exam (including translation into English): 2 hours 30 minutes

40% of A level 2: Writing

Written exam (including translation into Foreign Language: 2 hours 30% of

A Level

 

Future opportunities

The study of languages opens up a wide range of careers needing general academic qualifications as well as those requiring specific linguistic knowledge. Learning a language greatly benefits study into higher education. Furthermore, an A2 Level in Languages will be useful for careers in translation, interpreting, law, civil service, journalism, personnel management, public relations, social work, politics, police force, media, education and many more.
