Sport BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma at Lakes College West Cumbria

Course description

This is a one year, full time course is for those who would like to further develop their knowledge of sporting practice with a particular emphasis on developing athletic ability and investigating how elite sport functions in order to gain employment within the sector. This dynamic course includes topics such as analysis of sports performance, anatomy, physiology, research methods for sport and exercise science, sport in society, ethics and values and health and safety in sport. Maths and English will be at the core of your study programme. 

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs A*-C or a Level 2 Qualification in Sport at Merit Grade or above and Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths where not achieved at GCSE

Financial information

Free to all 16-18 and 19-23 year olds who do not already have a full level 3 qualification e.g. 4 or more AS Levels or 2 A Levels. Advanced Learning Loans are available for further education courses at Level 3, 4 & 5. They operate like higher education loans with deferred payments until you earn over approximately £21, 000 per year. (Information available at -learning-loans/overview) You have the option of taking out a loan or setting up a payment plan with the college that best suits your needs.

Future opportunities

Once you have successfully completed the Level 3 at merit profile, you could progress onto one of the Lakes College HNC/HND Sport courses, university or employment. Successful completion of these qualifications can open the doors to a career within the sports sector.
