Graphic Design BTEC Advanced Diploma Level 3 at Fareham College

Course description

Using traditional skills and the latest digital technology, this course explores typography, illustration, colour and texture, and both 2D and 3D design.

You will explore a variety of approaches to the production and presentation of design and imagery, and develop an appropriate critical vocabulary.

There are several trips and visits including residential visits and European Trips to enrich the learning experience.

Course content

This course provides a grounding in graphic design, digital imaging, photography, print and illustration with units including concept design and advertising.

As you progress you will work on specialist units to prepare you for industry or university. You will work on live projects requested by local and national clients in our design studio, working to professional standards and developing your own practice.

Entry requirements

  • Five GCSE’s at grade C or above including English, Maths and a creative subject.
  • A portfolio of your work is required at interview.


Assessment is continuous; there are no exams and the year ends with a final major project and exhibition.

Future opportunities

You can progress to university to study graphic design or a related subject.

Well-qualified and experienced graphic designers can work in television, film, magazines, design agencies and retail.
