Course description

Psychology is an interesting, challenging and exceptionally useful subject which is advantageous to a wide variety of different careers. Psychology will provide you with a scientific understanding of human behaviour and help to develop critical thinking and research methodology skills.

Course content

Psychology is the scientific study of behaviour and experience. Anything that people do, think or feel can be studied by psychologists. Psychology appeals to many students with different backgrounds and interests. Students studying GCSE Psychology will learn about many interesting topics in psychology including: Sex and gender, criminal behaviour, memory, perception, attachment, non-verbal communication, abnormality and how psychologists carry out research.

Entry requirements

The course is suitable for any student who is prepared to work hard. Individual entry requirements will be discussed at enrolment.

Future opportunities

Many students go on to study psychology in higher education. Psychology can be useful in any job which involves dealing with people. Those intending to work in the caring professions, the police force and other services, as well as those aiming to work in the media, sports psychology, personnel, marketing, sales and market research will find something of relevance and interest when studying Psychology.
