Biology A Level at Holgate Academy

Course description

The course will be appropriate for a wide range of students and combines well with other subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Geography and Psychology.
As a science subject Biology is held in high regard by all institutions of higher education. 

Course content

The course consists of topics including; Biological molecules, cells and biodiversity, exchange and transport and practical skills, Biological molecules, cells, exchange and transport and biodiversity,  Energy transfers, responses, genetics and homeostasis.

Entry requirements

Students need to be highly motivated and have at least a A*-C grade at GCSE in the biology component of your additional GCSE or in GCSE Biology.

Future opportunities

A wide range of undergraduate degree courses require Biology, such as life sciences, medicine, biomedical sciences, dentistry, nursing, environmental science, forensic science and related courses such as a  BTEC Higher National.

Employment opportunities include areas such as biological testing, biotechnology, independent research and the within the food industry.
