Course description

Sociology is an immensely challenging and exciting discipline.
Its aim is to understand how societies work.
It investigates the structures and cultures of different societies throughout the world and throughout history. It analyses the various patterns found in a society.
The study of Sociology presents us with a fascinating insight into the workings of human society. Students will look at race and ethnicity, social mobility, education, family and crime and social problems. These are critical issues presenting current areas of concern.

Sociology is a subject held in regard by many employers and Universities.
Many career opportunities are available; including Nursing, Teaching, Health Care Professional, Social Work, Human Resource Management and many more. Advanced level Sociology is recognised by Universities as an entry qualification to most degree level courses.

Through our Citizenship programme you will be given the option to develop an understanding of a variety of life issues around the community and the world in general.
