Children and Young People at Walton Girls' High School & Sixth Form

Course description

Created through collaboration with employers to fulfil the challenges of 21st-century childcare, this new qualification replaces the successful BTEC National Certificate in Children‘s Care, Learning and Development. Widely supported by employers and professional organisations including Bright Horizons, Montessori and Steiner, the Level 3 BTEC Nationals in CPLD are designed to meet the rigorous standards of the childcare industry. This subject is exciting, work related and gives valuable opportunities. The course incorporates the Key Skills such as communication, working as individuals and as teams, use of ICT and problem solving, which future employers‘ value.

Entry requirements

Five GCSE A* - C grades including Maths and English at grade C or above.

Future opportunities

It is possible to use this to proceed to a degree course if desired. A wide variety of employment opportunities and study at Higher Education are available including nursery and primary school teaching, care home manager, health care assistant, occupational health nurse, teaching assistant and a variety of roles within childcare.
