Accounting Apprenticeship Level 2 at City College Coventry

Course description

This course is for anyone new to accountancy wanting to pursue a career within this sector.  You will be employed in a support role within a firm of accountants or within the accounts and finance departments. Relevant job roles include:

  • Accounts Assistant
  • Cashier
  • Credit Control Clerk
  • Finance Assistant
  • Purchase Ledger Clerk
  • Sales Ledger Clerk

As well as earning a wage you will gain experience of working in a real life office environment.

You will be undertaking tasks such as assisting accountants to keep financial records and prepare accounts, learning how to balance accounts, process invoices, VAT returns and preparing financial reports.  The apprenticeship will enable you to develop the financial skills and knowledge that employers require as well as transferable skills such as English and Maths.   Successful completion of the course will give you the potential for career progression to:

  • Trainee Accountant
  • Trainee Accounting Technician
  • Advanced Apprenticeship in Accounting

You will develop your skills and knowledge in a range of finance related topics that include:

  • Processing bookkeeping transactions
  • Control accounts, journals and banking
  • Basic principles of costing
  • Working effectively in accounting and finance
  • Computerised accounts

Entry requirements

You need to be employed in a relevant role to join an Apprenticeship programme plus:

4 GCSEs Grade D or above, including English & maths

or a relevant Level 1 qualification combined with GCSE/Level 1 English & maths
